“We can’t selectively numb emotion. Numb the dark and you numb the light.”
Let’s talk about melting down…
If you follow me on Instagram you might have noticed that the past few days have been super emotional for me. It was a combination of some old wounds that were triggered, coupled with a recent conference that I was at contributing to me feeling like I had failed, I need to up my game and I needed to do it NOW.
What I realized is that I was judging myself for being emotional.
As if I needed to have it together 100% of the time.
Who else feels that way?
We feel this way for 4 primary reasons.
1. We see emotions as bad.
2. We value masculine energy over feminine energy.
3. We are afraid of emotions because we don’t understand them.
4. Our picture of health is skewed.
But let me just help set the record straight:
-Emotions are normal
-We experience life through emotions before our brain catches up
So…
I want to give you permission to melt down. Cry, scream, FEEL. Humans feel. We get tired. Exhausted. Angry. Overwhelmed. Hurt. Frustrated. Try to offer yourself kindness. When those emotions come, they want to be met with tenderness.
