“Accepting your body is not just about the physicality, it’s about accepting who you are, not continuing to wait until you become the person you imagine being.”
Girlfriend, it’s time for a come to Jesus moment:
You’ve been stuck in magical thinking. And you’ve put your life on pause. You’ve been sacrificing your happiness because you believe that until you lose weight, you can’t have the life you want!
Magical thinking is when you believe that something is the key to your happiness. That if one thing changed, then you would be able to live the life you were meant to live. It’s seeing the solution as out there, and magical. The magic bullet, the magic pill, the thing that will fix everything. That there is something out there that will change everything for you. And when we attach this magical thinking to our relationship and life in our body – it looks like losing weight.
Most women believe that if they lose weight, their life will improve.
Their life will be better, easier, happier.
Let’s discover what you think would happen if you were thin.
In your mind, how would your life improve?
Complete the sentence…
When I’m thin…
I’ll want to go out more.
I’ll be more attractive to others.
My sex life will be amazing.
I’ll have a sex drive.
My husband/partner will be attracted to me.
I’ll be more adventurous.
I’ll feel happier and more confident.
I’ll finally be successful.
I’ll get the respect from XYZ.
I’ll feel loveable.
I’ll want to work out.
I’ll travel more.
I’ll have more friends.
I’ll be more outgoing.
My dad will be proud of me.
I’ll finally start my business.
I’ll wear a 2-piece and love going to the beach.
What’s so interesting about this fantasy is everything hinges on you losing weight. Your actual LIFE does.
And it becomes the distraction of a lifetime.
Obsession with weight loss vs creating a life that you love.
This is called magically thinking.
If I lose weight, then I will suddenly have the life of my dreams.
It’s also a very covert cover up for victim mentality thinking.
I can’t do anything to improve my life or my self confidence until I lose the weight.
So, It’s time to ask yourself…
What would it look like to start living the life you think the weight loss would give you permission to live?
What would it look like to start talking to yourself in the way you’d talk to yourself if you lost weight?
What would it take for me to feel XYZ if nothing had to change with my body.
You can live your thin fantasy life right now in your body that you have today. It just requires that you remove the condition of being thin.
What you have control over is how you choose to show up for your life.
