Formerly an international expert at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, she managed millions of dollars and helped launch the global campaign to eradicate malaria. After working in 25 African countries by the age of 30, she found herself hyperventilating through a panic attack, confused why she felt so stressed, exhausted, and unhappy inside the life she always thought she wanted. After quitting her dream job, selling her belongings, and traveling solo around the world, Melody founded Soulcation, a company that helps fellow hustlers, perfectionists, and world-changers develop regular self-care routines that revive the soul. In addition to sitting on nonprofit boards and working as an internationally sought-after consultant, Melody is preparing for the release of her book, Soulcation: Living a Life You Don’t Need a Vacation From – bringing her powerful and emotional message about why doing the one thing the world told her not to do was the best thing she ever did.
S2: EP52- Creating Rhythms Of Rest With Lindsley Brooks

On this episode, join Mary and part time co-host Lindsley Brooks, as they explore a new way of approaching our lives that includes rest. Sadly, we live in a culture that glorifies and rewards “the hustle.” And workaholism is a socially acceptable form of addiction. It is often rewarded with success, money, status, and acknowledgement. But when we cross the line from just being someone who works hard, to straight hustlin’, the rest of our life begins to suffer. Eventually our physical, mental, and emotional health starts to deteriorate. And the relationships with our loved ones become strained. This is our wake up call. It’s vital that we begin to add in new rhythms of rest into our daily lives to create a little more balance. And finally, we must learn to disconnect our sense of self worth from our level of productivity, and create space and opportunity for more peace, more pleasure, and more nourishment.
