(This video is recorded from a YouTube LIVE session)
It’s happening. The brainwashing has started. It seems like every commercial, every social media post floating around right now is all about the NEW YOU. It’s time for a resolution and you’d better finally lose that weight.
January is a HUGE consumer month for all things related to fitness and diets. They call is the 2nd Christmas because people are buying so much activewear and footwear.
There is BIG BUSINESS behind the New Year.
And it’s job is to make sure that you believe several things about yourself.
#1: You are flawed.
#2: You are not enough
#3: You are broken
#4: You need to be fixed
So, if we really want to see positive long lasting change for 2019, we need to approach it in a completely different way. Outside of the hype. And the shoulds. And the pressure. And succumbing to all the weight loss ads.
And we can break this brainwashing in 4 ways.
Way #1: Understand your INTENTION for wanting to lose weight.
Is it motivated by fear, shame, or social pressure?
Is it coming from a belief that if you can just lose weight your life will be better. You’ll finally be happy, confident, successful, fulfilled, full of joy etc when you are thinner?
Are you afraid that love is conditional on your pant size or number on the scale?
Where is the urgency coming from?
WAY #2: DECIDE How do you want to FEEL instead.
“My greatest desire is to feel….this year.”
Maybe it more peace, freedom, joy, happiness or confidence.
“What would I have to believe to feel this?”
Ex. That it’s possible to find peace right now. Peace is available to me now. That I am loveable right now. I don’t have to earn love. I can have an amazing life at any size.
Only from a place of safety, rest ,trust can you begin to release whatever you need to let go of and then try on something new.
The ACTION will not get you what you want. (dieting, joining a gym etc)
The only way to FEEL better and to create long last change, is to love yourself more.
WAY #3: MOVE TOWARDS MORE LOVE.
No amount of resolutions or lbs lost will make us more loveable.
Love breaks us out of the trace of shame. Of our fears that we are not worthy, that something needs to be fixed before we can be loved. It side steps our judgements and reminds us of our true identity.
The real work is in loving ourselves.
We aren’t taught how to do this.
But I can teach you how.
It is possible.
It’s possible to look at your body and offer it love.
It’s possible to quiet that body bully and instead fill your mind with loving thoughts.
It’s possible to find peace around food.
It’s possible to never diet again and not live in fear that you’ll gain weight.
It’s possible to look at yourself in the mirror and smile.
It’s possible to start a new year without thinking you need to lose weight.
It’s possible to feel more love and hate towards yourself.
It’s possible to accept your body where it is right now.
There is a different way.
I want to invite you to explore my 6 week online course Babe, Redefined.
I am on a mission to set women like you FREE from dieting and hating their bodies. I am on a mission to help you heal from feeling like you are anything less than beautiful in the body you have right now. I am on a mission to redefine the word BABE to include all bodies. All shapes. All sizes. I am on mission to remove the shame, and help you befriend your body. I am on a mission of love. I want to invite you into something new. A different way of existing in this world as a woman. I want to walk hand in hand with you. To redefine beauty. To redefine what it means to be a woman. To become a babe, redefined. This is the year to make peace with the mirror, quiet your inner bully and love your body. So I invite to considering taking my 6 week online course.
WAY #4: ADD IN LOVING ACTIONS
ASK YOURSELF: ARE THERE ANY LOVING THINGS I’D LIKE TO ADD INTO THIS NEW YEAR THAT WOULD HELP MAKE ME FEEL MORE ________ (YOUR FEELING.) CREATE A LIST OF THOSE THINGS.
Wanting to be healthier and have more energy and feel better isn’t the enemy. There are beautiful ways to nurture and take care of yourself from a loving place.
Here are a few loving things you can do to support your health with no dieting, weight loss or gyms:
Eat and help heal your metabolism
Sleep a lot
Eat when you are hungry
Say no to things you hate doing
Say yes to things that sound fun
Take supplements to help support healthy cells, your adrenals and stress hormones
Use essential oils to support your immune system and your emotional state
Read something that breathes life into you, or listen to a podcast
Find ways to laugh
