“Mary, how good can you stand it?” My coach asked. It hit my heart like a deep jolt of light. Could it be that I am resisting good? Of course that doesn’t seem to make any sense, but I realized that I am holding back. Sure enough, I have put a limit of how much good I can experience and I have met my quota.
There is still a part of me that feels like I don’t deserve more good. And the reality is that I’ve been afraid to ask God/The Universe for more light.
Enter self sabotage. I was unconsciously trying to bring that level back down to what I thought was socially acceptable.
After walking through this with my coach and identifying how I have been self sabotaging, I realized that it is never about deserving.
IT IS ABOUT ALLOWING.
How much good are we allowing into our lives? How much openness can we stand?
The beautiful truth is that all the good is already right here. It’s all around us. It’s here in every moment. But most of the time we don’t give ourselves permission to receive it.
Whether it’s because we need the bad to prove the negative story we have told ourselves about the world or it is because we are simply afraid that life couldn’t possibly be that great, we choose not to see it. But it’s there. Even in the darkest of days.
So take a moment to slow down right now and look around you. What good is right here? Right now. If you choose to see the good, where is it?
HOW MUCH WE CAN HOLD IS HOW MUCH WILL GREET US.
Our level of experiencing joy is in direct proportion to how much good we can receive.
So my question for you is this… How much good will you choose to receive? Where do you find yourself denying the good and instead accepting the normal, the mediocre, the average? What would your life be like if you risked seeing the good around you? What would happen if you could let just a little more good in?
Just this simple inquiry begins to put a wedge where we were hooked.
I commit to let more good into my life. I commit to receiving. I commit to being more open. I commit to letting my light shine so bright. No matter the ups and downs of life, I choose to see the possibility. The good. This is worth choosing and fighting for.
Dare to shine and experience the fullness and joy of being fully alive.
