On this episode, join Mary as she kicks off this month’s topic, Self Sabotage. Self sabotage is the perfect follow up to last month’s topic, Core Wounds. Self Sabotage is often rooted in our Core Wound.
We all have great goals and expectations for our lives! However, we may find that our actions don’t fall in line with the things we want. This is self sabotage.
Like we talked about last month, our subconscious mind is always working to protect us from experiencing hurt and traumas. This shows up for all of us differently based on our unique history. If you have ever found yourself in a cycle of setting goals and then doing the very opposite of what is needed to make that goal a reality, chances are your subconscious mind is at war with your conscious self. If you say you want to be successful, but there is a fear that is attached to that for you, even though you say it, it will be very difficult to actually accomplish it without digging in deeper to discover the root cause of that fear.
If you find yourself in patterns of self sabotage you might blame yourself, think you are lazy, think you don’t have what it takes to achieve this goal… but in reality this is brains best way of protecting you. Of keeping you safe. Of warding off negative things you have experienced in the past. We can have a lot of appreciation for the part of ourselves that is in the self sabotaging pattern. It isn’t a weakness or something to be judged. Those were the unconscious tools you had available to you to keep you safe.

-Fear of success
-Fear of failure
-Feeling a sense of guilt of shame for having something good
When we can identify our unique reasons for self sabotage, then we can begin to close the gap between our subconscious mind and our conscious mind. This gives us the opportunity to begin to make conscious choices to create the life and relationships we truly desire.
